Religion
Georgia was the second country in the world to introduce Christianity as the state religion. This happened in 337 AD. The first country was neighbouring Armenia that adopted a Christian state church order in the year 301.
The oldest preserved church in Georgia, and in the Caucasus region, is in Bolnisi, in southern Georgia. It was built between 473 and 488, long before Bolnisi was a town. The town was founded in 1818 when German immigrants from Swabia moved there and called it Katharinenfeld.
