    Name in Svan language: შუან (Sjuan)
     
    Area: 4388 km2 (Mestia district (Upper Svaneti) 3044 km2 and Lentekhi district (Lower Svaneti) 1344 km2)  
     
    Borders: Russia (the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria), the Abkhazian part of Georgia, and the Georgian regions of Mingrelia and Racha Lechkhumi  
     
    Population: 23 000
     
    Capitals: Mestia in Upper Svaneti and Lentekhi in Lower Svaneti
     
    Language: Georgian is the official language, the Svan language is used as an oral mean of communication  
     
    Governance: Upper Svaneti (the northern and highest located part) is administratively a part of the region Mingrelia-Upper Svaneti, while Lower Svaneti (the southern and lower located part) is administratively a part of the region Racha Lechhumi-Lower Svaneti.
